For Immediate Release
In the past ten days, nearly 500 Palestinians were massacred and over 2500 were wounded, including, men, women, children and police forces as a result of intensive Israeli air strikes, and ground invasions, which targeted the besieged Gaza Strip. There are more than 1.5 million people in Gaza with a population density of 3000 inhabitants per square mile.
At a time when the Israeli military officials declare that they are
going on with their deadly attacks, the Nonviolence Network in the Arab
Countries believes that this Israeli act is illegal and inhuman and is
nothing more than a genocide crime being committed against the
Palestinians.
We, therefore, call upon the International Community, the Arab World
and the United Nations to stand for their role in protecting the
Palestinian people, who according to International law is entitled for
international protection, since it is a militarily occupied nation, and
therefor, bring Israeli leaders in front of international criminal
courts. We also call on all citizens of the world to boycott any kind
of Israeli activities or products in their countries. Moreover, we
call all the governments of the world – and the citizens to push their
governments – to suspend any cooperation or trade agreements with
Israel until the halt of the aggressions, such as the trade agreement
between the European Union and Israel that is currently being discussed
and potentially upgraded.
We particularly call for the United States, Israel's principal
supporter and ally and the European Union to place diplomatic pressure
against Israel in order to end all its illegal measures in the occupied
West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
While we are holding Israel fully responsible for this massacre, we
call for an end to all forms of violence through resorting to acts of
nonviolence, exemplified by the Free Gaza Movement, and to negotiations
to settle conflicts and establish a viable Palestinian State.
